Overview
Mt Shivling Expedition
One of the most breathtaking mountain peaks in the world, Mt. Shivling looks like a giant granite tooth clad with snow-white ice. Once called the 'Indian Matterhorn' for its pyramid like shape, this stunning peak is located at Tapovan in Western Garhwal Himalaya. The summit reaches at an elevation of around 6543 m and leaves the adventurers speechless for its gigantic sight. Gangotri Glacier, the source of river Bhagirathi is found at the proximity to Shivling which is a treat to the eyes.Â
Mt. Shivling encloses two summits together, and takes the visitors close to the western border of Nepal. The trekking trail which connects this mountain peak with the temples of Gangotri, scenic villages and lesser explored parts of Himalaya, meet the requirement of avid religious souls, nature lovers and adventure seekers. The route towards the North of Mt. Shivling introduces one to Meru Bamak Glacier, while the other trek let you witness the Kirti Bamak Glacier situated to the south of Mt. Shivling. For the best camping experience on your way to Shivling, Tapovan Meadows is the most awe-inspiring camping site.
